The Saturday after Thanksgiving is designated as Small Business Saturday with the open invitation to #ShopSmall. But, there’s a lot more to the story than just one day.
We’ll bet that you didn’t realize that small business is America’s largest collective employer. Over 50% of the working population (120 million individuals) works in a small business. Small businesses have generated over 65% of the net new jobs since 1995.
Total revenues from small businesses hit $989.6 billion in 2011 (up 4.1% from 2010), and that represents, by far, the greatest contribution in local sales taxes which support the many vital city services we often take for granted.
And THAT is why the Greater Coosa Valley Chamber of Commerce urges you to #ShopSmall with the many local businesses that provide the base of employment and municipal revenues for our trade market.
By all means, show your support this Saturday, November 24th, BUT support them throughout the year as well. That’s is the easiest way to convince other business entities to invest in our trade market, giving us more and better ways to spend our money!
And, as our way of saying, “Thank You!” to those who support our small business community, and as a way of pointing out the need to shop locally in support of every aspect of the community, we are sponsoring the 2018 Childersburg Shopping Spree!
It’s really quite simple:
Whenever you spend money with a local business between now and Saturday, November 30th, save those receipts and turn them in to the Chamber (805 3rd Street SW in Childersburg) before 2:00 p.m. that day (11/30), and we’ll be rewarding eight (8) shoppers with $50 gift cards that can be used to keep your holiday season shopping going even farther!
Join us for #SmallBizSat on Saturday, November 24th and #ShopSmall at the businesses you love year ‘round! There’s nothing quite like personal service from friends and neighbors!
