Under the direction of Childersburg First Lady Trisha Wesson, downtown Childersburg not only transformed into a beautiful and unique Christmas village for the holiday season, literally thousands came out for the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony and related activities!
Trisha’s organizational and motivational leadership skills are bringing local folks together again this year for more and better. Dozens have signed up to serve on six different committees, but there is room for more volunteers! Contact her via Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/trisha.wesson.5 to get involved. Your help will be greatly appreciated!
There’s another way to get involved with a “Remembrance” or “In Honor of” donation to the Historic Preservation Commission to help cover the cost of the Christmas Tree lights!
In the meantime, plans for this year’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony are coming together, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16th at the Butler-Harris-Rainwater House. After that, the festivities will move down 1st Street – feel free to take in the lovely downtown sights during a leisurely stroll to Kiwanis Park and on to the site of the future Desoto Park, adjacent to the Police Department.
Santa will be on hand for the children at Kiwanis Park, along with hot chocolate, cookies, and more special treats in the works.
This year, the City will honor our veterans during the event, and the local American legion Post will be front and center with a moving patriotic ceremony at the Desoto Park site!
