The evening of Saturday, July 14th will be a big night in Childersburg. It is when dozens of young ladies take a strong step toward college by competing for valuable scholarship dollars. You probably guessed already that we’re talking about the annual Miss Childersburg Pageant. It will be held at Childersburg High School.
While we invite you and hope you’ll be supportive with your attendance, there is also a factor we hope will excite you, too. The pageant had already grown to include the Miss Childersburg Outstanding Teen Pageant. And now, two more, brand new pageants have been included in the line-up – Miss Coosa Valley and Miss Coosa Valley Outstanding Teen.
Miss Childersburg is a “closed” pageant, which means that contestants have to live or go to school within a specific geographic area. For this pageant, that would be Talladega County, as well as those counties that directly border it, plus Jefferson and Tallapoosa Counties. Miss Coosa Valley and both of the teen pageants are “open” pageants, which means that contestants can come from anywhere in Alabama.
Contestants for the “Miss” titles and scholarships must be at least 18 before the next Miss Alabama Pageant AND be at least a high school senior, through to the age of 25. Outstanding Teen contestants must be between the ages of 13 and 17 and not eligible to compete in the “Miss” category.
Now that you are aware of the geographic and age parameters, would you happen to know someone who would make a great competitor? Well, have them contact Anita Mahaffey at (205) 296-2911 or Kelli Naugher at (205) 540-0746 for entry forms and more information.
