Looking ahead to the July 2nd Childersburg Market Day, the decision was made to make in an extra-special event worthy of sharing the week with our nation’s birthday celebration!
July often signals an important turning point in both the availability of certain produce items, as well as the volume of that availability! We’ve have already seen red tomatoes, green tomatoes, a wide variety of squash, peppers, and green beans. We’ve got black berries, blue berries, peaches, cucumbers, green plums, ripe plums, and lots more. There’s even been a bit of corn. This week we are expecting even more of those things, plus watermelons, cantaloupe, and maybe even some peas and okra!
And don’t forget our already-available home-made candies and home-made baked goods, plus a handful of one-week only special vendors of arts, crafts, and more!
This week, we’ll also have previews for a pair of new businesses preparing to open their doors in Childersburg. They’ll be on hand to meet, greet, and do a bit of showing off and explaining what they will soon be adding to our local retail marketplace!
We will have three established authors on hand for book-signings. One of them has scheduled the debut of the first title in a brand new series of stories, “Maggie Mae & Me – The Beginning.” It’s a heart-warming coming-of-age series that literally, “cradles your heart with inspirational love, faith, and courage.”
The other two authors are also accomplished song-writers and musicians, that we have asked to grace us with some of their “joyful noise” to liven up the festivities while they are with us!
We’ll have special causes represented, such as a “Fill the needs” drive for the Ronald McDonald Charities that allows parents to focus on their ailing children during treatment rather than the distracting worry over the details of accommodations. We’ll have awareness and volunteer recruitment exhibits to promote community togetherness and progress on important fronts that help us all.
And, to top it off, we’ll even have a demonstration of a brand new family-oriented recreational attraction we have that serves a handful of important purposes. Firstly, it’s something that’s a lot of fun in a beautiful environment for our citizens. Secondly, it will be something that has already started to attract lots of visitors. And thirdly, it will provide a fun new opportunity to raise funds and awareness for a lot of special causes!
I’m certain that we’ve left out something important, so we’ll simply add, “Lots More!”
By the way, the Childersburg Market Day is held every Monday from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church parking lot next to City Hall!
