The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, July 18th with the following items on their action agenda:
The Council approved Resolution 2017-10, approving an agreement for Childersburg Police Officers to work on a statewide traffic safety initiative with overtime funded by ECHSO, also authorizing the Mayor to sign necessary documents. Chief Rick McClelland said the program will run from August 18th through September 30th and will include extra enforcement of seat-belt & child restraint violations, along with driving under the influence, speeding, and such.
Approval was given on a pair of roof repairs projects. The first ($3,500 from Alabama Trust funds) on the covered parking area at the Fire Department. The second ($6,500 from Alabama Trust Funds) is for repairs & completion of previous work at the Rescue Building/Street Department.
During the Town Hall portion of the gathering, Mayor Ken Wesson reported that the Childersburg Municipal Court has been recognized by the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation (AMIC) and used as a “how-to-do-it-right” example by the insurance company that covers most of the state’s city governments.
The next regular meeting of the Childersburg City Council will be Tuesday, August 1st at 6:00 p.m.
