A “Get Busy Being Involved” Weekend starts TODAY!

To borrow an old phrase, there are more family-friendly, good-for-the-community events on the schedule the next few days than you can shake a stick at! And the action gets started today!

Tonight (Thursday, October 12th), as Childersburg High School hosts the Leeds Green Wave in a key high school football match-up with important playoff implications, your Childersburg Historical Preservation Commission will be set up at the game to help you join in on a brand new Christmas tradition!

Rainwater House Memorial Christmas Tree

You know those two huge evergreen trees at the Butler-Harris-Rainwater House that overlook Highway 280? Well, the plan is to light them up this holiday season, for all to see and enjoy! The “Memorial Christmas Tree” program will allow you to honor &/or memorialize loved ones by purchasing a light or more! The cost is $5.00 per light, and your gift will benefit the Rainwater House!

Make your donation at the big game, or drop by the following locations: Childersburg City Hall, Pam’s Hair Heaven, Renasant Bank in Childersburg, Rainwater Library, Greater Coosa Valley Chamber of Commerce!

Renasant Bank’s “Pink-O-Ween” Chili Cook Off

An idea to add a festive fall atmosphere to downtown Childersburg has grown and grown. Pink-O-Ween will be a delicious “festival” at Renasant Bank that will provide a lot of “winning” fun as it raises important funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Literally dozens of “partners” have climbed on board for the big event on Friday, October 13th from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Join the fun and make a lasting difference, too!

Oak Grove Fall Family Festival

It’s one the region’s biggest & best FREE event for the entire family to enjoy. The Oak Grove Fall Family Festival will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in Oak Grove Park, next to Oak Grove Town Hall. The day comes complete with a full line-up of live music featuring everything from Blue Grass to classic Rock ‘n Roll and everything in between! And the line-up of FREE activities for the kids is nothing short of amazing with lots of inflatable bouncies, a train, the Home Depot Kids Workshop, loads of cartoon characters, and more! Add to that the largest collection of arts, crafts, and other great vendors in the history of the festival, and your day will be fun for the entire family! Oops, almost forgot the food – Hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue & lots more!

Get Up, Get Out & Get Involved!
